| | giddy | ] | Today was a very exciting day.
Avery arrived.
At 10:30 we picked her up at the Paddington train station where customs was holding her for trying to dodge the Eurostar fare and eluding French customs. It cost me 480€ to cover her international fine and get her out. She kind of smelled like urine.
I recall when I first was getting to know Avery worrying about how my life would sound when I tried to describe it to her. It was then I learned that you didn't have to be Truman-esque wards of a corporation to have super weird life experiences on a daily basis.
So here's to Avery, accomplished world traveler, international rule-breaker, ballsy motherfucker.
Welcome home. |

Everything went incredibly smoothly this time and Duet and I are now the proud new parents of another chubby little angel. Duet is recovering quickly, Evelyn adores her little sister, and Adrian doesn't know what to do now that he's outnumbered by little girls. =) More pictures soon! |

Any name idea? We've only thought of a few so far...
I like "Natalie," and Duet was thinking about "Ashley." Rachel and Avery have selected, respectively, "Rachel" and "Avery." Quatre's picked out some kinda corny names, Wu Fei and Tori think she's gonna be French ninja, and Trowa and Heero only suggest names they find in 500+ page fantasy novels. |

An Across The Universe-inspired Gundam Wing Fun Facts Post!
It guess it's not that surprising to find that The Beatles are universally appealing. Their songs were awesome and the messages were spot-on. While not big on English himself (though he spoke a fair amount), Mr. Sumizawa, the writer for Gundam Wing, liked them very much. =) There were a few things he suggested for the series, and ea few more permanent ideas, that were inspired by his Beatles-luff. If I knew more about The Beatles, I'm sure I could pick out more information, but right now I only know what I've been told.
- Maxwell was chosen as my last name (over "Clark," "Smith," and "McKenzie") because Mr. Sumizawa thought the character of Duo Maxwell aligned perfectly with the psychotic boy in Maxwell's Silver Hammer. o.O*
- "You know my name, better look up my number" 'nuff said. lol
- Duet's Gundam was the Blackbird and, in the sketches, had a hammer as the specialty weapon. (Not the WashiOokami. That name was born of Tori and Duet's love for Power Rangers and stuck in fanfiction)
He said different characters were inspired by a ton of different songs and albums. I'm proud to have been The Beatles. =D Apparently, Quatre was the spawn of a lot of classical music, Zechs was Bruce Springsteen/Bon Jovi (I don't see it... o.o), and Heero had a bit to do with "Desperado."
It's funny to see what music breaks the language ad culture barriers. XD But I know for a fact that Mr. Sumizawa loved himself some Bon Jovi. You knew he was pulling up when you heard "FEELIN' LIKE A MONDAY BUT SOMEDAY I'LL BE SATURDA~AY NIGHT!" blaring through the parking garage.
P.S. Is it totally nerdy that we spent the weekend tooling around Liverpool on a tour guided by Quatre and two blokes we met at the pub on Friday? Because it was possibly one of the most awesome things we've ever done... |

Gundam Wing was six years ago, people... Why don't you find Naruto or Inu Yasha or something?
Or maybe she just thought I was a clown. |

| | cranky | ] | So it's official... we're moving to Europe. It's a weird feeling.
Somewhere in England...or the UK...or whatever it's called. The Company called today and said they had everything finalized. It's sort of our last big thing before we go on reasonable salary and not OMGWTF LET'S SPEND MONEY bank accounts.
I really don't want to leave Jersey...at all. Okay, sure, we all complain about the traffic and the bitchiness of people and this and that and why is there no real Chinese food anywhere? but this is our home, you know? We love it the way New Yorkers love New York. I always thought our kids would go to the same school we did or hang out at the same places. I thought we'd have knowledge to pass down to them and stuff like that.
And I don't even want to think about being far away from everyone we know here. Who's gonna fix Granny's roof every spring? Where are Chris and Amy gonna go to get away from their parents and throw parties? Where is Rachel going to hide out from the police when she's finally forced to kill someone?
And what's worse... the wife and I have been carefully cultivating a collection of babysitters for years! Now we finally have a kid to dump off on all our friends and we've gotta leave?
Fuck this.
Couldn't we at least go to Italy?? They won the cup. >__>
Meh... maybe it won't be so bad. I think we'll make it our mission to seek out and befriend JK Rowling. This won't be the last you'll see of the Gundam Pilots!!!
HARRY POTTER and the GIANT ASS-STOMPING ROBOTS HARRY POTTER and the ORIGINAL KINGS OF YAOI HARRY POTTER and the 40 STRAIGHT HOURS OF DANCE DANCE REVOLUTION
Anyway, off to Japan and then........we'll probably be moving March-ish? I don't know. Things are hectic. -___-* |

| | Ben Kweller - "Commerce, TX" | ] | Any other parents would freak out... But we're a very open family. We let Evelyn date whomever she chooses.

Just thought I'd make an update. I hope you're all doing well, and once we get our last semester/ grad school applications and acceptances/ housing situations figured out, hopefully we'll have more time to come back and chill.
Until then, ladies, we reccomend you wait until you're out of college and financially established before you pop one out. SHOOTING STAR! The more you know...
I love you all. ^_^ |
